  • Since today is the start of a new month, let’s take a look at how much daylight increases during the month of March. Across Upper Michigan, the duration of time that the sun is above the horizon increases about 3 to 4 minutes each day. As a result, the sun will be above the horizon roughly 1 hour and 40 minutes longer on March 31st than it will be today. Due to the switch to Daylight Savings Time at 2 AM on March 10th, the increase in daylight will be considerably more noticeable in the evening even though the rate at which sunrise times are advancing earlier each day is slightly faster than the rate at which sunset times are becoming later. Here are sunrise and sunset times for some locations around Upper Michigan for March 1st and March 31st.
