It was a cold but beautiful day. Our first picnic of the year by Lake Superior .  What a beauty she is.    

Only in the Up have I ever seen such a beautiful sky the bluest of blue.  We are so thankful and loving our new Roadrunner.

We all went about.  How many people do we touch??  Do we smile? Care?  Give our time?  Reach out ?  Lord forgive me for not being aware and sensitive to others needs.

Today is our area. 64th day of below zero weather this winter.
Rosie the roadrunner is even shivering  
As I sit here typing it is -1.

  Ok let's see. 

There must be so much to be thankful for this.

1. We don't have to run the air conditioner

2.  We have warm house to snuggle up in.

3.  We have heat.

4.  The sun shines most days when it has been this cold. ⛅

5. Might be killing some of the bad bugs that have been killing trees.

Spring is just around the corner. And how quickly we forget. 

We will soon be thinking how warm it is.  Sure wish it was cooler.  We certainly do appreciate the seasons.  And up here the are so many days that are just right. 65-75. Surly must be heavenly  temp's.

How hard it is for us to stop complaining about the weather.

Forgive me Lord.  

This is the day that the Lord hath made we shall rejoice and be glad in it.  


Spring is in the air...........

Ok this is crazy but it is starting to smell like 

            spring.  You can just smell it in the air.
This makes me and the birds very happy...

Ok I went to to read James 6 and there is not 
one...  :)  So an email came in that told me there 
are 31 proverbs one for every day of the month.. 
 So

Ok so what is a mocker???  
a person who causes repeated emotional

What does rebuke mean?

A real heat wave

Well finally 

woke up to 18 degrees this morning!!!!!!!

Yippppeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!

Yesterday was the first day it smelled like spring outside.

The birds seem to even sense it...  


It was a day that just makes one happy.  



Thank God for the promise of Springtime........

Like a Child

No child understands the logic of going to bed while there’s energy left in the body!  I remember when our daughter, Andrea, was just five. We finally got her to bed.  I went in to give her a final kiss, when she lifted her eyelids and said, “I can’t wait until I wake up!” Oh for the attitude of a five-year-old!
Is it any wonder Jesus said we must have the heart of a child before we can enter the kingdom of heaven? He said, “Believe me, unless you change your whole outlook and become like little children you will never enter the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 18:3).” In other words, quit looking at life like an adult.  See it through the eyes of a child.

“I can’t wait to wake up,” are the words of a child’s faith. Andrea could say them because she plays hard, laughs much, and leaves the worries to her father. Let’s do the same.

We may have been scammed on Craigslist.  Not real sure yet but God is showing me to be like a child...  do not worry

God is my father and going to  leave the worries with him....

Will it ever quit snowing this year
snow came late
but it keeps snowing... prob the most on the ground that we have seen at one time in years and years.....but spring it close....

The Diary of a Snow Shoveler

Oct 23

6:00 PM. It started to snow.

 The first snow of the season the wife and I and sat for hours by the window watching the huge soft flakes drift down from heaven.

 It looks like a Grandma Moses Print.

 So romantic

 we felt like newlyweds again. I love snow!

November 15th
We woke to a beautiful blanket of crystal white snow covering every inch of the landscape.


 What a fantastic sight!


Can there be a more lovely place in the Whole World?


 Moving here was the best idea I've ever had.


 Shoveled for the first time in years and felt like a boy again.


 I did both our driveway and the sidewalks.
The snowplow came along and covered up the sidewalks, closed in the driveway, I got to shovel again. 


                             What a perfect life.

November 30th:


The sun has melted all our lovely snow.


 Such a disappointment.


 My new neighbor Bob tells me not to worry, we'll definitely have a white Christmas.


 No snow on Christmas would be awful!
 Bob says we'll have so much snow by the end of winter, that I'll never want to see snow again.
 I don't think that's possible.


 Bob is such a nice man,


 I'm glad he's our neighbor.

December 14
Snow lovely snow! 8" last night.


The temperature dropped to -20.
 The cold makes everything sparkle so.
The wind took my breath away, but I warmed up by shoveling the driveway and sidewalks.


 This is the life!

The snowplow came back this afternoon and buried everything again.


 I didn't realize I would have to do quite this much shoveling, but I'll certainly get back in shape this way.

December 15


20 inches forecast.
 Sold my van and bought a 4x4 Blazer.
 Bought snow tires for the wife's car and 2 extra shovels.


                 Stocked the freezer.

The wife wants a wood stove in case the electricity goes out.


 I think that's silly.


 We aren't in Alaska, after all.  
                         This is the just the UP.

December 16
Ice storm this morning.
Fell on my butt on the ice in the driveway putting down salt.                            Hurt like heck.
 The wife laughed , which I think was very cruel.

December 17
Still way below freezing.
 Roads are too icy to go anywhere.

Electricity was off for 5 hours.
 I had to pile the blankets on to stay warm.
 Nothing to do but stare at the wife and try not to irritate her.
 Guess I should've bought a wood stove, but won't admit it to her.
 God I hate it when she's right.
 I can't believe I'm freezing to death in my own living room.

December 20
Electricity's back on, but had another 14" of the white stuff last night.
 More shoveling. Took all day.
 Darn snowplow came by twice.

Tried to find a neighbor kid to shovel, but they said they're too busy.
I think they're lying.
 Called the Coop store to see about buying a snow blower and they're all out.
 Might have another shipment in March.
 I think they're lying.

December 22
Bob was right about a white Christmas because 13 more inches of the white crap fell today, and it's so cold it probably won't melt till August.


Took me 45 minutes to get all dressed up to go out to shovel. Tried to hire Bob who has a plow on his truck for the rest of the winter; but he says he's just too busy. I think the jerk is lying.

December 23


Only 2" of snow today. And it warmed up to 0.


 The wife wanted me to decorate the front of the house this morning. What is she nuts!!!


 Why didn't she tell me to do that a month ago? She says she did 
but I think she's lying.

December 24


6". Snow packed so hard by snowplow, I broke the shovel. Thought I was having a heart attack.


 If I ever catch the man who drives that snowplow I'll drag him through the snow by his nose and beat him  with my broken shovel.


 I know he hides around the corner and waits for me to finish shoveling and then he comes down the street at 100 miles an hour and throws snow all over where I've just been!

Tonight the wife wanted me to sing Christmas carols with her and open our presents, but I was too busy watching for the snowplow.

December 25


Merry -bleeping- Christmas! 20 more inches of the slop tonight. Snowed in.


 The idea of shoveling makes my blood boil.


 I hate the snow!


 . The wife says I have a bad attitude.

Still snowed in. Why the heck did I ever move here?

Temperature dropped to -30 and the pipes froze, plumber came after 14 hours of waiting for him

Howdy

Its gonna be a long long winter

Every day for over thirty days it has snowed. Baker Boys never ending job is running the snow blower. We have had over 113 inches so far. Throw in a little rain one day and a ton of ice.
Snow has been on the ground for a long long time.
It seems like I get green starved........maybe .that is why my house has a lot of green in it.
Yet reflecting back my flowers in my window box last summer were all white. (go figure) It has been very cold outside. The old woodcook stove is doing her job...I love having hot water all the time and not having to pay for it. Sometimes I put on a big kettle and pour it in the washing machine. Its great.

Baker boy is sleeping and all is quiet outside. It was a wonderful Christmas, Such a special time.

Seeds are ordered........can not wait to start them.. Going to town and buy some dirt.

That is one thing that is wonderful about the four season's. You appreciate the smells. And nothing smells any better than dirt..........ok I lied... Bread smells pretty darn good.

Yucky Weather snow snow and more snow

My girlfriend Anna called and said it was like night all day!!! She wondered if we could go to bed yet? It was 4:00 this afternoon.It has been one of those days where we are very thankful its not like this everyday. As I type it is raining on about three feet of snow. Gloomy and just plain yucky...... The snow is shrinking.........but will soon turn to ice. ....Baker Boy shoveled the roof yesterday. Yes we live where we have a rake and you go all around the house and pull off the snow. Our weather has been like Jan and we have had snow snow and more snow...think its going to be a very lon.......................g winter. I keep looking for a widget that will tell me how many days till spring.

Pictures never look as great as it does gazing at the sunrise in real life. We have taken hundreds of pictures and it does not come close to the awe one feels when we have such a blessing as this. Sunrise what a great time of the day.

This is the month that one of my favorite days of the year arrives. This is really a great month. Every year my great friend Anna and I count the days till the 21st. You know what happens then???????????????? Yip the days start getting longer . YIPPPPEEEE soon we can watch the 6 oclock news in day light. ( Well soon meaning around Jan 21). Boy do we have to much time on our hands in the winter.
Lots to do today... and yes guess what.??? The Pinetree seed catalog came in the mail a few weeks ago.....we are thinking about ordering seeds for the garden. A great big bowl of Blackseeded Simpson and Red Sails lettuce sounds pretty good right now. It may be a banner year for seed company's with the economy being the way it is. Might be a good idea to start buying canning lids. In the 70's they were pretty hard to find at times.
We are under a Winter Weather Advisory 2-4 inches of snow before one. This is the worst time to travel here it is usually wet heavy snow. The easy to get stuck and slide off the side of the road........... Snowman building kind. Good for the kids but not so good for driving.

Well my thought for the day is "This is the day that the Lord had made let us rejoice and be glad in it....

God is good....................all the time..........
