Harrisonburg Shenandoah Valley

We had a great time with Megan and Dan.



They took us around Harrisonburg we

are in the Shenandoah valley it is

beautiful and very green. Megan said

they have had a lot of rain. The

temps are great it may be time

to bring on the summer ware.

Megan and Dan are newly wed

and have a very beautiful home.



We left early Monday morning around 8

we are headed for the Blueridge Parkway.

Overcast and supposed to rain today.

On the road again off to VA

She had a real nice breakfast ready for anyone wanting to eat.

Megan and Dan's house in Virginia...

Went on down through the mountains heading towards Virginia. We are spending one night with Ronnies niece Megan and Dan. They live in Harrisonburg Virginia.

We were in Maryland about one min and now we are in W. Virginia. We will hit Pa,. Maryland, W. Virginia and Virginia all four states in about a hour or two.

We came with in about 50 miles of Camp David. And we were only a hundred miles from Washington DC.

The mountains are beautiful and Rosie is running like a charm.

The weather is so nice we can pick up water today....Yippeeee

Surrounded by the Blue Ridge and Allegheny mountains, the Shenandoah Valley was beautiful.

A Day around Reedsville and White cap Amish buggy

There are seven mountains around Reedsville and we are on top of one...it was very windy last night.
we are staying in Rosie cause the flu bug found me....but now on the mend quite nice and feel tomorrow will be a  much better day.  We didnt go to Hershey today as planned today ....so no chocolate for now.... :(

Ron showed us around the area yesterday it was a great trip.  I just felt pretty crummy....Hope LJ and Ron dont get this...or anyone else in the family... 

We stopped at some great stores but with Rosie so small we have to watch what we buy...

Had a wonderful lunch with Lois  family at Aunt Ester's....she had potatoe soup  that reminded me of my gramma's it was out of this world.  She really had a feast....
Kermit told me some great stories of the area.  This is really a neat community.
Monday there deer season opens so a lot of the men are getting ready to go to camp....Good luck guys...

There are three kinds of amish unique to this area... this is a white topper...

A white topper going down the road.  When we got closer she shook her finger at me I really did not mean to offend her.  I was after the buggy not the people.  But she saw the flash in the car window.

I didnt get a picture of the black toppers but they are the one's I grew up with around Goshen Indiana.

Lois sisters family has been wonderful and we are so glad we got to meet all of them.
It would have been a perfect day if the flu bug didnt attack.....

In PA

We left Rockville at about 8 am.  A great time in Rockville.

We arrived in Reedsville PA at about 11 at night.   Rosie loved the tail wind and surprised us with giving us 18.2 miles a gallon. We are not planning on making any more large trips in one day as this one was. 
Traffic in Ohio was horrific and we went down some side roads as there was a big back up of cars on the Interstate.
 Ron showed us how to work our radio...it was a bit trickie...but now we have music after all these months. 
.  The side roads were beautiful and wish we would have had time to stop. Went through major Amish citys.   So we will catch these towns on another trip.

Here in Reedville they have three diff kinds of Amish...white tops, yellow tops, and black tops.
I have never heard of this and they told us it is unique to this area.  The tops of their buggies are the different colors to seperate the different  groups. 

We are staying in the house as Kay, Lois sister insisted but I miss our Rosie...she seems like being home away from home.  The bed is Rosie is amazing and sleep better than we do at home. 

We are going local shopping today and it should be very interesting. Going to some Amish stores.  And some unique grocerie stores.
Thinking of going to Hershey tomorrow. 
Every girl needs a Chocolate fix now an then...............:)   Right Anna???????

30 some people here for thanksgiving.  It was great and Lois family is so wonderful.  But miss my family at home......next year if we go south going to have to wait till after Thanksgiving. 

We are having a great trip....

Trip to Indiana

Sunday November 22 to Wed am on the 25th. A wonderful very busy two and a half days in Rockville Indiana with LJ's cousins. We saw many covered bridges in a very beautiful county.  Had a wonderful time with family and there was lots of  reminiscing of the cousins  on time gone by.  Met up with many cousins at a get together of wonderful food and wonderful fellowship. Bought some great cheese at a nearby farm in Amish community.  Thought this was a very interesting bike. Went to interesting pottery class with Nancy. She was a great hostess and many thanks to her for such a great time....and great food.

Two and a half days in Rockville

Sunday November 22 to Wed AM on the 25th.

Today Rosie is headed back North to PA.  But the last few days have been great in Indiana.

On the way to Indy we saw today........ Six great big deer.... Five drivers speeding Four motorcycles Three.  Red tailed hawks Two dunken donuts One great blue heron And a Ron standing at the airport And a partridge in a pear tree.........

Dad and Sons

We had a great time this last week.  Tomorrow morning
we pack Rosie and head on down the road.
Rosie sleeps well......better than our own bed at home.
We love our RT (Roadtrek) more and more all the time.
We picked up a shelf bar.  so everything does not roll on the floor.
and a couple of hooks to hang clothes on.
Rick gave LJ some kind of stablizer which really helps Rosie not
move while you are walking around. 
Nyla loves traveling and she is always ready to hit the road.
So in the morning we can sing
"ON THE ROAD AGAIN"

a Week in Rosie Roadtrek. Has It really been a week????

After a week of living in Rosie our Roadtrek we have made a few changes

The thin down blanket on bottom of bed and big down blanket on top is more than enough covers.  In fact last night it was almost to hot.

We switched out the closets and tweeked them a bit we think we almost have it the way it works for us.
We have not done a lot of cooking in Rosie yet as we have been invited out or ate at the kids.

The back bed is ideal we love it and it sleeps fantastic.

  If you listen close you can here someone still snoring. 

Just kidding. We are thinking this bed is as comfortable or more so than our bed at home.

We are loving the trek and can not wait to get down where the sun is shinininining......:)

A very fun great day with family....we have a crazy one
Many laughs and stories were told by all.....

Weather is great.  Rosie is happy.......she lost a little weight got rid of a lot of stuff.
More room and lots of storage now. 
We didn't cook in here all day.  Going to look for electric skillet. :)

Day Two

Today we woke up to total silence... it was great.

Very chilly and it was darn right cold.

We almost decided not to go for the 1.5 walk through the woods.  But the sun came out and it was chilly
but beautiful.

this beautiful chapel in the woods.

It was so beautiful.

On we went to flying J's in Lansing and than on to the kids

Rosie is getting 16.3 mpg which makes LJ very happy.
