Sunday a day of rest........

I love Sundays............. thankful for them....

Today I have been pondering making a list of Gluten Free Foods that we can use for the grocery store list....

We spent 30 min trying to fig out if a Butterball Turkey was gluten free in our Target the other day.  We think it was not and bought a Jennie O.....  the gravy was not but the bird was.    How frustrating......

Not sure how to do this there should be one on the internet........

But why can I not find it..............sigh

So if any one reads this and is GF please feel free to share your favorite foods.

My best treat so far is:
Betty Crocker Gluten free Devil's food cake.
Make them into cupcakes and put them frosted or not in a big tupperware container and stick them in the freezer.  Take one out on a day you need a choc fix....  Like today :)

They are still moist and Yummy....

I made Quinoa (Red) turkey soup last night.  It was ok....but not amazing.  We rate everything on a scale and gave this a 6 or 7.  Next time maybe will try diff spices.  I put in sage and parsley garlic cloves.  Not a lot of salt.. This will be our soup of the week.
As oops I made a bunch....
So far nothing is better than the squash soup or the potato soup.  I used all purpose GF flour to make the rivels.  Not like grandma's but it was probably an 8 on our scale maybe even a 9....

Not sure anyone will ever read this but at least I will know where my notes are....  :)

That happens when you are in your 60's.

All the time God is good...

PS I think I am going to miss Alabama....  :(

Re The day after and OOPS day with Gluten...

Gluten Free:
Being Gluten free for three and a half months now has sometimes been a challenge...
mmmmm
maybe more than a challenge

I have prayed Lord help me much more than once or twice.
Finding out every day new and helpful things.
Did you know there is Gluten in some tea bages.

My friend Sandy told me it is usually the ones that are glued not stapled together.    Sigh..... TEA BAGS???????
The most interesting thing about when you state the journey is that you feel better almost instantly..... And the longer you are on it ....(for a lot of people)  the more sensitive you become. Crazy but it seems to be true.
Also found out you really should see a dietician..
It can be hard to have a balanced diet, and get all your vitiamins and minerals.  They fortify white flour.

 But not gluten free flours.
I just found Teff......  Never even heard of it before.  More to be reported on this new purchase when I find out now what I can do with it....  :)
Interesting and learning so much on this new walk.

  But over all feel great.

For me it is an easy walk most of the time because I feel so much better..

actually like a new person....like a teenagers...well wait maybe not.

Better than I felt even in my teen years......not that is stretching the memory wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy  back.....
Found sparkling water and now think it is my new addiction.

Trying to go to normal water and drink it but it seems it just sits in the glass...

.did read somewhere the carbonation can help calm down an oops.

Belive me I have had oops....with a big OOOPS...
Have a great day and wonderful weekend.
And always always remember:

This is the Day....... For One

Have never felt so good in my entire life as I feel now.
 God is so good.
When we went to Green Bay for LJs surgery LJ wanted to go to a Harbor Freight. He is thinking of doing some solar panels.
There just happened to be a very big goodwill right next store.
We smiled at each other. He went one way and I went the other. I love Goodwill.
Love the rush of the find. Guess it carry's over from my picking days in our Antique store.
Walked in turned right and went right to the book section....there was a book "Living Gluten Free for Dummies."
I almost yelled out with joy.
A blessing for 3.99 which would have been 19.99 in the book store.
It is so fun and such a rush to see God taking care of us in such a way. It is a wonderful book.  Thank You.... Thank you Lord for leading me here.
And as I look back this change in my life came from one women.....a women at church. We were standing in line waiting for refreshments. She told me she was Gluten free and why..... I did not even know her. A few sentences she said to me and it changed my life for ever. The power of words....wow... So very thankful for what she said. I had never even heard of gluten free before then. What a blessing she was and is.
How this stranger spoke to me and said a few words changed my physical life forever.
God gives each of us a story and they are not the same stories but they end up hopefully all on the same page.
The heavenly page of Glory.

Praise God

Have a blessed day....a wonderful Sabbath.

God is good all the time
. All the time God is good.

RE: Love letter to you....Lord

Thankful......Praise and worship....
Thankful for good news....(cancer gone)
..thankful for safe trips. (Green Bay)
Thankful for grand daughter turning 16 today. (R)
Thankful for great friends.... And family....
Praise for Mr.  Sun.....how I love Mr. Sun
Have you ever met anyone who does not love the sun.???
We do not think we have.
There is something about the sun and water.  People flock to it........
Let there be light..  So thankful for light...
Raysha is 16 today..  What an age she looks like 19 the girls sure look like women fast now days.  She has had some rough years Lord.  We need to and do  intercede for her.  Such a kind wonderful spirit.   We are so thankful that she blesses our life.  We keep her in prayer all the grands   all our family...that they might learn to know you and depend on you.  That you are the Father ...  You are always there.

I pray that this might reach one....  To think that You would have came and died for Just One.  Such love such grace.
Thankful for the little surprises.  The gifts you bestow on us.

For walking in a store and seeing a book on Gluten Free living.  So helpful.  It truly is a book for Dummies.  Thankful for the mind.  Always learning no matter what age we are.
Being Gluten Free for three months now.  It has been an interesting journey.  Not a real easy one.

Help me Lord help me.  Learn and also teach those also going through this walk.    Praise to you.
In Your precious name

Gluten free three months now.
Most helpful advice so far people have given me:
Drink sparkling water when there is an oops....granted to me it was an acquired taste.  It did not come right away.  But now it is enjoyed so far kept me away from coke.  Which may be an addiction of mine.
Also:  Research the Internet.  What did we do before it???  It is like having the biggest library in the world at your finger tips.
Learn and focus on what you can eat...Not what you can not eat.  This has been most helpful
And have a plan:  What to say when asked to someone's house and not sound rude or kind.
What you can order in a restaurant...
How to eat frugal....this is my next challenge as everything gluten free seems so much more money.
But Fresh fruits and Vegetable and plain meat is always the best option for me.
We discovered Woodmen's grocery store in Green Bay on our medical journey.  What an awesome place and it is employee owned.  It would be such a blessing for so many to have something like that in the UP.

6 weeks Gluten Free today

Well I went GF (gluten free six weeks ago today)  and boy it is like a new person came out of this body....
I am not kidding....do not even feel like the same person....do not even look like the same person...
I CAN SEE MY FEET   :)
Can not say this has been easy..  Specially the eating out part.  But a hamburger with no bun works.

If you eat meat...but than again harder  again if you do not eat meat.

a rare meat eater here.  Never really liked it so much...it has been very hard eating out.

Went to town and found a brand new smoothie maker.  This really helps me to take the place of ice cream.  I LOVE LOVE love these smoothies.
This one was 10 dollars brand new at a local used shop.  YIPPEEE.... also picked up a yogurt maker for 1.50.

Lost over 6 pds in six weeks but not doing this to lose weight.  It sure will not hurt if lose 33 more pounds.  Never have felt better for a long long long time.

This sure seems like it may be the key for me.  Was only doing it for two weeks.
Then went to a month and now 6 weeks.  Feel so good it makes it easier now.

what a joy to have more energy...

God is so good.......... Amazing grace

After  a trip to beautiful town yesterday we saw the good news that gas came down a bit to 4.03.9   Good News...just    have to think and remember "God is the blessed controller of all things"....boy that is a hard one for me sometimes. Well maybe more than sometimes, sometimes..... :)

When I was younger about 35 years ago I had that plaque from a seminar that I gave to  my mon.  Not sure what happened to it but need it on my wall again.

"God is the blessed controller of all things"..

It is a beautiful fall like day outside. Well maybe a little warmer than fall.
But on the  inside of our house it is cold feels like winter to me like the heat needs to be on.  But outside in the sun it is very warm. I call this crazy weather cause no matter how you guess what to wear you are wrong.  The one thing about the UP you all need to know if you come up here sometime......... GO NO Where Without A SWEATER OR SWEATSHIRT....even if it is 90 outside.  The weather can turn on a dime......and usually does.

I never knew humming birds loved holly hocks so much.  We have had so many of them humming birds one day I counted about 11..  More than any year ever. Even more than when we had the  humming bird feeder.
Took a picture of holly hocks but did not get any hummers in it.  :(
The flowers will follow this post.  My girlfriend tells me I have an eccentric garden  mmmmmmmmmmmm just looked that up it may not be good...   irregular;

erratic;peculiar; odd well

mm I guess that does describe my garden.  Not that I planned  it to be that way.  It just grows and we mostly let it do what it wants to do..  I cannot bear to throw a flower out.  So not good at all at little rows little circles or big ones as far as that goes.
Ok here are some pictures.

But first :  Gluten Free Pizza tonight.  Outstanding.

Have a blessed weekend.

Feels and smells like Fall

It sure feels like fall.  Almost could turn on the heat these chilly mornings.

Two weeks gluten free and yesterday was the hardest day ever.  You would think when one gets sick it would not be hard to resist the donuts and home made bread.

Our order from Amazon arrived of Gluten Free products to try. Betty Crocker has a Gluten Free pancake mix.  Really can not wait to try it.  It gets good reviews also.  I love Amazon and try and only order what is shipped for free.

We were really surprised how many diff things our stores in town have. Guess people ten years ago never had this many options.

When I started this diet it was only for two weeks to see if it made any diff.  A trial so to speak. .  It has made such a huge diff.   Now my husband wants me to go for a month.
So I agreed we will go one month out and see.  We fig trying it is hurting nothing.  They are saying you need to be diagnosed by a doc for Celiac but a biopsy of the small intestine seems pretty radical to me.   It could be just an intolerance  also.
It is amazing how much food you can eat and it does seem pretty livable.
IBS is not fun.

Last nights dinner:
Fried Rice.
Saute onion , carrots, snap peas in olive oil
add two cups of cooked rice.
add three eggs and cook till eggs were done.

PS I cooked up a big pan of rice and froze it in two cup packages.  We like Brown rice and it takes a while to cook.  This works great..  :)

It was yummy had a jello salad with it.
LJ made me some bread it is excellent bread.  Think there may be some real challenges but ideas using this.  It is Gluten Free Pantry and very good bread.  But as with all Gluten Free produts it is expensive.

Well it will see how the next two weeks go ...

God Bless

Ok Finally fig it out.........whew..thought I lost everything

Whew.....got them back.  Thought I was going to have to upload over 300 pictures again.  I love Google..  Just googled it and found it in 5 min on how to get them back.

This makes me very happy.

But two weeks on my new GF diet has really changed my life.  Although I do not always like not eating my Cardamon Bread and Raisin Bread. :(

But on the good side I found out m&m's plain are Gluten free.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart lean not unto you own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths:  woke up saying this.

Lord please direct my paths....
