We are so Thankful

What a wonderful time of the year.
Thanksgiving, Christmas coming up and 2007 coming to a close. ( which by the way has flew by with record speed.)
This has been a great year in the UP.
We are so thankful.

We now have three goats.
harvested a bountiful great garden.
The wood shed is full

the canned harvest is smiling at us from the cupboards.

This Holiday season coming so quick upon us this is a great time for reflection.

We thank God for his many blessings.
The many seasons of life.
They go by so quick.
The 17 grand kids are all growing like weeds.

Turn around and they are grown.

We are so proud of each and every one of our Children and their children.
We are not a perfect family and I wish we were all closer.
But we just want them all to know that they are loved very very much.
We are so blessed and
We are so thankful .........

Time just seems to go faster every week. And wow I see November peaking its nose at the calendar.

I love November. It is a great time. A time for reflection and blessings. A time to truly be thankful for what the Good Lord has given us. We are so blessed, such a great family and to live in such a country as ours.

Restful Sabbath

Sunday, October 21, 2007

It is a beautiful day today. A much better looking day than yesterday. Battle of the flu. Called my good friend who is teaching me about Homoeopathy and took some Oscillococcinum, and feel much much much better today. A little weak but prob from not eating.

BB made me some homemade chicken soup with homemade noodles now who could ask for more?
He is getting ready to go to church and for me this day will be a wonderful Sabbath of rest.
This prayer came in my email today from a very dear friend and I love it so much I wanted to put it here.

Father, I ask You to bless my children, grandchildren, friends, relatives , co-workers and email buddies reading this right now. Show them a new revelation of your love and power. Holy Spirit, I ask You to minister to their spirit this very moment . Where there is pain, give them Your peace and mercy. Where there is self doubt, release a renewed confidence through Your grace .In Jesus' precious name. Amen."

Sept 15 Happy Heavenly Birthday Paul

A Photo of Paul that my friend Janet gave to me she laminated Paul's picture on to a rainbow....

October 1, 1966-September 15, 2001-
Paul's heavenly 6 Th Birthday
This is the day that the Lord Has made let us Rejoice and Be glad in it... was the song I woke up singing today. This is a worship song that we have not sang in years...and it was on my mind the very first thing when I opened my Eyes up today....
This to me Is Paul's day.....
A rather long story of rainbows......
Rainbows
Rainbows have always meant so much to me...They are so awesome. The many colors of life. Some are bright yellow and happy colors ,and then there are the very deep blue color that may make us think of very blue day. Or times when we are blue. This beautiful rainbow has always meant to me the combination of all the colors of our days and our lives and that God has left a convent to us. There they are all the colors bunched into the colorful rainbow that makes up the colors of ones life. For some reason it would not be quite as beautiful if it would have been all one color..say all yellow or all blue..
Six years ago today our family's life changed for ever in a moment. This was the week a lot of lives changed forever. 5 Days after 911. Our son Paul, was taken out of this world in a heartbeat. God in His Mercy in Paul's case took him home right way. There were no times for Goodbyes, No fair wells. No extra I love yous. As a mother over the next year there were thoughts that I would never survive such grief. The hole in the heart was so big it was even heart to breathe. the very few days that follow now seem like a blur, and thought survival was not possible. Having others sons and seeing there hearts breaking was also more heart breaking. My husband and I grieved totally diff..... it pulled us more apart over the months then finally back into each others arms for comfort.
Now the story of the Rainbow....
I call it Paul's rainbow to me....
I had been praying continually for a sign that everything was alright. Paul was OK. Although I knew in my heart he was. About a month or two after Paul's died my friend Karen came to my house and said I was going for a ride with her no choice... she pulled me out of the house to go with her to pick up a birthday present, it had been a raining, then the sun was coming out. Going into town the most beautiful rainbow came out and she said this is your rainbow your sign, it is for you..... it is a sign you have been waiting for ....by the time we had returned home with many tears on our face. there were calls on the ans machine saying " Did Ya see it???? The Rainbow the awesome rainbow.??? You had to have seen it ...it was just for you.....Everyone who saw the rainbow was telling me it was just for me...A sign from Paul he was OK.... This was just the beginning ....

Written on an Amtrak train....rolling over the hills coming home, another sleepless night from the Memorial service held for our fallen Officers Killed in the Line of Duty

Capital lawn was great, seeing the president was great, but seeing God at the candle light vigil had to be one of my greatest moments ever. The winds and storms of the evening threatened to delay the memorial candle light ceremony. 18,000 people were waiting for the ceremony to begin, when the most beautiful double rainbow appeared out of a cleared, stormy sky. . it was indescribable the feelings that fell over the crowd.
The COPS had this most beautiful laser thin line going through the sky but nothing man could have prepared could ever be like this. God in His glory giving us all a site to behold. It was awesome.

Over the next 6 years we would see rainbows and find such comfort in them and they always seemed to appear just we needed them most.
Now back to the present........
Last night we were at a friends house for dinner it was a typical UP fall like weather. Rain, sun, talks of Frost . After dinner when we were leaving . My husband was taking things to the truck and he called to me and said quick come over here to the door and to come outside and look. This was one of the most spectacular Rainbows we have ever seen... the amazing this is it ended right in our friends yard. The end was right there, you could see and you could have ran out and put the bucket down.....it was truly the end of the rainbow...and. for one fleeting moment my husband and I both saw the double.rainbow...it was only for a few seconds.
Now some would say this is a coincidence but I don't believe in coincidences......it was our sign....Everything is all right.
I hesitate to tell my story as some may say where is my rainbow, my sign...... believe me it is there. You have to look for it..... For some people we know it has been looking down and finding a pennies from heaven..
All we know God is Good all the time.
now we have came to the place where we are so thankful that we had Paul in our life as long as we did. Not everyone gets 33 years.
We don't have to try and fig everything out...I tried. It is exhausting and can not be done. ...... But the one thing we do know is that..
God is Good .........all the time.
Today we are having a lunch at 1:00 of everything Paul liked to eat. Paul died at 1:08..... A lot of the family will be here. There may be a few tears but the one thing I know is there will be laughter. Paul was a clown..
so today it will be Hamburgers, French Fries, and choc chip cookies ,choc milk( our family comfort food) thats what will be on the menu.....and it will be truly be a day God has made, and we will rejoice and be glad in it.....

Summer Weather

Allergy suffers are smiling the big killing frost is on its way.
Maybe Jen will get snow for her birthday????? We will have to wait and see.

On a sad note a good friend in our Prayer Shawl group her daughter has died. Our thoughts and our prayers are with her and their family. Losing a child has to be one of the most painful things a mom and dad can go through. Please keep her and family in your prayers. Mom's name is Linda.

A Bit of Color

Sunday, October 07, 2007

A little bit of color

Sundays Ponders

I love Sunday????
Sunday for me is a day of rest and reflection. Thanking God for a blessed week, for great friends and our great family.

Today I am listing a few sayings I wish I would have known twenty years ago

1. " How Important is it????

2. Don't make Mountains out of Mole Hills.!!!

3. and one of the greatest saying of all that changed my life forever was " YOU MAY BE RIGHT" How I wish I would have known this one when my father was still alive. It seems for my whole life we had this love/ fight relationship. Maybe it was because we were so much a like.....( I do shudder to think of it.) But I may be right....

How many quarrels have we had with others that really do not matter at all.??? (sorry dad) ...How important are they really??? Do I really care if we have beans or corn for supper? I don't think so....
Power. Control...why do some people need this over others?
Maybe because deep down inside they are unhappy??? They do not like them selves? I really don't know the ans.
But I do know that the Lord has changed my life forever. All the mistakes and screw ups I have made have been forgiven....... And this lady here will be thankful till the day she dies.

I love my God , my family, friends, and my Country.....
....and will forever be grateful.

May you have a blessed Sabbath

God is good......................... All the time

Happy Birthday Jeff

Happy Bithday Jeff

There was a birthday party for Jeff this evening he is going to be 14 years old.
Jeff is such a handsome, smart boy and he is just growing leaps and bounds..
Time just keeps going so fast .
More often than not I call and see how old all the kids are just before their birthday party.

Organization has not been one of my gifts.
They are all wrote down somewhere.

It is just that when I need to know the written down place has disappered. (sigh......)

Then its time to sit back in amazement and wonder where have all the years have gone.

It's been said that the older you get the faster time goes and it is sooooooooooooooo true. .
17 grands now and it is amazing when we all get together and see how much they have changed since the last time we saw them.

It seems with the boys the years 13-14 there is such a big change. One min a little boy,,and you turn around and there is a man standing there.

May God Bless Jeff and give him a grand year.

Paul

Monday, October 01, 2007

41 years ago today, one of the biggest blessings a mom could have entered this world

. A beautiful little boy....he looked like a Paul ,and so he became

a tiny little ...... Paul Bryan Grahovac..... was born.

He was such a gift. But a gift that was taken away to soon.

He has been gone from our site for 6 years now. But never from our heart.

We never know how long we get to have these gifts.
Life is a true gift. All our days are numbered. one thing for sure..... dying it is something we are all going to do....
so today lets live life to the fullest. Hug those we have with us....and say the I love you's.

In the depths of loss, sadness and heartache we take comfort in these words from I Thessalonians 4:13-18

13Brothers, we do not want you to be ignorant about those who fall asleep, or to grieve like the rest of men, who have no hope. 14We believe that Jesus died and rose again and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15According to the Lord's own word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left till the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18Therefore encourage each other with these words.

The Brain of a Snowflake

Friday, September 28, 2007

This blog has never been on a "schedule" so I write when it seems like there is something to say.
Flylady calls them God Breezes.
There are so many topics I want to explore and write about.

This is the way a flakes brain works....
It is all over the place
. (smile)
Sometimes I amaze my husband.
We can be talking very serious about something, and the next thing I say is.......

.Boy!!! I really want Chickens!!!! .

I miss our home eggs so much...

.He looks at me with a strange stare ,and just smiles.
Bless his heart. He is one great guy. Even after all these years. ..

We have always prayed that God would send those who he wanted in our lives and keep away those that He did not. .

I'm just sending the thoughts of a snowflake out to the Universe and letting the Universe decide the outcome. (And by the way I really, really want chickens........ :)

Clean house????

Thursday, September 27, 2007

HOW TO CLEAN THE HOUSE
1. Open a new file in your PC.
2. Name it "Housework."
3. Send it to the RECYCLE BIN.
4. Empty the RECYCLE BIN.
5. Your PC will ask you, "Are you sure you want to delete Housework permanently?"
6. Calmly answer, "Yes," and press mouse button firmly ...
7. Feel better? Works for me!

My good friend Christine Sent this to me.........and Hey Chris it works for me!!!!!

Friends

My grandaughter stayed with me this last weekend. She was telling me of a big fight that happened between two girls in a near by town. She was there but not involved and it ended up in calling the police. Thankfully no one was badly hurt. We started talking about how important it is to chose the right friends. I repeated something to her that my mom had always told me......you could become.. "Guilty by association". Wrong place wrong time thing and never even be a part of it but just by being there it could soak you in.
After are little chat we proceeded to Sat night worship service at church.
Much to both our surprise the preacher was preaching and quoted the same exact words and talked on the same thing..."Guilty by association....
This always blows me away but it is so exciting when this happens.

Then today in my email a letter with the following....

The Bible, common sense, and now the "New England Journal of Medicine"all say the same thing:

Be careful about the friendships you form, for those friendships in turn form you. It just makes sense, then, to choose wisely. Do not be misled:

"Bad company corrupts good character" (1 Corinthians 15:33 TN IV).

Someone is speaking ........ I don't believe in coincidences. Everything happens for a reason....

God is good ...........all the time.....

How Rich are We????

This morning I woke up thinking about money and how to stretch it..
. it is amazing how sometimes I dont know how we stretch but it just seems to happen.
I really do know how ....it is God's never ending Grace.
If we put it on paper and tried to fig it out.........it would never work....
I read this somewhere recently and it really stuck in my mind ..............that when God gives Grace we get just our daily dose. He does not give tomorrows grace out today. We receive what we need when we need it....we can not store it that does not require faith....

I was invited to a party this week..... not much extra spending money was jingling in my purse.... Something caught my eye for a special person for her birthday. I just knew she would love it. It had her name on it...... I quickly looked it up in the party book and it was way out of my extra spending money range, so a bit sadly, I started looking for something that might work, something else I thought she might like that matched the jingling money in my purse..........and guess what happened?????? The party started and the hostess said. This set right here ,and she pointed to the item I so wanted ,is on sale for the rest of this month only...... and boy did I smile.....(It just matched the jingling spending money in my purse.....
amazing , I wanted to jump up and down. Did you ever see a flake jump up and down????
all so on this day.......... I won a very nice door prize and a drawing for a box of candles for my house.... ....ahhhhhhhhhhh
Thanks for the Blessing today Lord.....
God is so Good ...........all the time.

The following are bits and pieces from Heartlight.... something I wanted to keep so I thought I would put it here. So it is my private notes but you may read it if you like........................

You know how full of love and kindness our Lord Jesus Christ was. Though he was very rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that by his poverty he could make you rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9 NLT)

True religion with contentment is great wealth. After all, we didn’t bring anything with us when we came into the world, and we certainly cannot carry anything with us when we die. So if we have enough food and clothing, let us be content. Many people who long to be rich fall into temptation and are trapped by many foolish and harmful desires that plunge them into ruin and destruction.
For the love of money is at the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. (1 Timothy 6:6-10 NLT)
God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others. (2 Corinthians 9:8 NLT)
Stop. Think about that question for a moment. Answer it honestly. “Am I rich?”
Now, ask it of God. Wait for the answer. “Heavenly Father, am I rich?”

It’s very important that you answer, because your whole life is very likely being controlled by that answer. Everything you do is colored by it. Every single facet of your life is shaped by it in some way.
In this life there are at least four answers to this question. The first group says, “Of course I’m rich. Look at all the money I have.” But then they go home to empty houses filled with all the finest things in life, but devoid of anything even nearly approximating faith, hope, and love. These are the people who are lost, but don’t know it. They can’t face, or won’t acknowledge how barren their lives really are.
The second group says, “I’m not rich. Look around. I can hardly pay my bills each month. I have no savings, my car just broke down, and I have no idea how I’m ever going to send my kids to college.” These people hold “poverty” up like a badge of honor. In reality, their focus on what is bad keeps them in “perpetual bad” without any hope of getting to the blessings God has poured into their lives.
The third group says, “No, I’m not rich. Even though I have a lot now, something terrible could happen tomorrow, and then where would I be?” These are the people who are just waiting for bad to happen. They can’t enjoy what they have for fear losing it all in the future. No matter how much they have now, fear is their dominant approach to their blessings. This anxiety effectively negates any positive emotions, making them perpetually feel “poor” and effectively keeping them in “perpetual bad.”
And then there is the fourth group.
The first time I read this question, my resounding answer all the way to the bottom of my spirit was, “Yes, of course I’m rich!” However, it wasn’t until a few minutes later, that I really thought about the being rich in terms of having money. I simply looked out to where my children were playing, as I sat on the steps of my home waiting for my husband to come home, and my answer was simple: “Yes!” How could I answer anything but “Yes!”?
A few days later, I asked the question of someone in exactly the same situation. That person’s immediate and resounding response was, “No!”
I was astounded. How could the two of us, basically “in the same boat,” respond so differently? The more I reflected on that paradox, the more I learned about how and why I relate to my world the way I do.
When I was younger, a friend told me, “You know, you are so lucky. Everything always works out for you.”
At the time I said, “Yea, and I work hard to make sure it does.”
In light of asking this question anew, however, I can see why things work out for me. It’s because I believe that they will work out for me. I focus all my energy toward that end. I pray expectantly for them to work out. I trust God to be at work in my life.
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them. (Romans 8:28 NLT)For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases him. (Philippians 3:13)
Even when things don’t work out like I planned, I often find that they were worked out for me even better than I could plan. Even when they don’t work out, I find that God worked in them for my continued growth as his child. Then, I feel even richer than before.
A well known motivational speaker uses an exercise where first you “hope” something will work out. He says that when you hope, you see two possibilities: the thing working out and the thing not working out. Then he invites you to “expect” that something will work out. Expecting focuses all of your attention, all of your energy, on the goal being accomplished with no thought to it not working out. When you prayerfully expect consistently, your goals, your dreams, and your plans have no choice but to come into being because your thoughts, and your submission to God, help shape your reality.
So back to our original question: “Are you rich?”
When you look at your life do you expect things to work out?
Do you trust that God is in your life working his will for your blessing?
Do you focus all your energy on things working out?
Or do you sit back and hope that somehow they will?
If your answer to the last question is “Yes,” then I’d be willing to bet your answer to the first is “No.” You see, if all you focus upon is how “poor” you are, no matter how great things may actually be in your life, you will find a way to feel “poor” and “bad.”
How could I answer anything but “Yes!”? Sarah Ban Breathnach, best-selling author of Simple Abundance and Something More, suggests keeping a gratitude journal where every day you write down five things for which you are grateful. This is an excellent way to force your mind to focus on answering a resounding, “Yes!” to our question. So to get us started, I asking you take a moment, right now, and list ten things in your life for which you would not take a million dollars.
Yea, I know there are nagging problems with things here and there. We all face those. However, I’m asking you to look at your health, your kids, your family, your spiritual heritage, God’s grace, God’s promises, Jesus’ gift of grace, and a host of other blessings God has lavished upon you.
Now answer the question; “Am I rich?” Then ask yourself, “What do I want to do with the rest of my life?” What is my dream? If I could be anywhere in this life, where would I be? Picture that place in detail. What does it look like? Breathe and fill your lungs with the air of this place. Close your eyes, and see it. Now ask God for his blessing in fulfilling that dream to his glory. If you believe you are rich, if in your soul your answer is a solid, no-questions-asked, resounding “Yes!”, then with God’s help, you can achieve that dream and just about any other dream you focus on. Nothing can stop you.
No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. (Philippians 3:13-14 NLT)
You may be saying to yourself, “But I’m not rich. I’m not blessed. Look at all these bad things that have happened to me.” Then I urge you; start a grateful journal today. Don’t wait another minute. You don’t have a second to waste. God is pouring his blessing into your life and you are missing them. Let this be your warning: Do not tell your brain you are poor simply because you don’t have as much money as someone else. When you allow that attitude to flourish, no amount of riches, monetary or otherwise, will ever be enough to make you feel rich.
Believe you are blessed , feel you are blessed, focus on how you are blessed
every single moment of every single day, and give thanks to God .
For when you feel you are blessed and believe you are blessed, more bleessings will be granted to you.
You will be rich, no matter what your bank account says! You will be rich, no matter how your finances compare to the next person.
So, now, let me ask you once more; “Are you rich?”

Is time going faster????

Is time going faster???? Or is it just me? It sure seems like there should be some speeding tickets given.

The grand kids are growing like weeds....or maybe beautiful flowers.

It's that time of year to start putting everything to bed.

Mainly the garden.. A garden is such a wonderful thing. Just playing in the dirt is refreshing to the soul. Nothing smells anybetter than dirt..........(well maybe I lie)....

What a Summer.......

Thursday, September 20, 2007

Colors are beautiful. Baker Boy and brother went to camp.
Books came on homeopathy......can not wait to read them all. Maybe some reading time is ahead.... (smile)
This weather is the strangest thing ever. We still have red tomato', lettuce, and my garden flowers are starting to re bloom......never seen this in over 30 years in the UP...but look out. The old white stuff will be upon us soon. We remember one 1st day of Oct when at Paul's party the kids went out and had a snowball fight. The way its going this year it could have been a pool party.
Have a great harvest....... What a wonderful time of the year. Will post some fall colors here soon. BB took my camera to camp but may come home with some awesome pictures.
